Tim Connolly - Founder & CEO

Tim founded Aptumus in January 2020 to continue to pursue the deep interest he has had, throughout his career, in challenging the consulting status quo and finding new and better ways of achieving successful and sustainable outcomes for clients. When he left KPMG in 1994, it was to co-found Partners for Change, whose ethos of building client capability for major change programmes was a shining differentiator from the majority of consulting firms at the time. With his business partner Mark Smith, Tim led Partners for Change to the unusual achievement of appearing for three consecutive years in the Sunday Times Virgin Atlantic Fast Track table of the 100 fastest growing private companies in the UK.

After selling to Diagonal in 2003 Tim became a director of change and innovation consultancy Ignite before spending several years as an independent consultant and interim CEO, most recently of Bloor Research International.

Tim has led many largescale consulting programmes, from the commercialisation of the electricity industry in the late 1980s and early 1990s through major technology and structural change programmes with many corporate clients.

Tim has a First Class Honours degree in History from St John’s College, Oxford, and his deep interest in the (first) Industrial Revolution in the UK has stood him in good stead in developing consulting services for Aptumus to support their clients through the current one. He will not court controversy by suggesting which number we are now on.
